2010 Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State Equine Sciences students will host
annual Legends of Ranching Performance Horse Sale on April 24, which
features 68 horses from 23 respected ranch consigners.
Over 25 percent of the nearly 400 CSU Equine Sciences students actively
organize and produce the sale every year. Reflecting the land-grant
mission of Colorado State University, the sale is a collaboration of three
university classes focused on experiential industry-based learning.
Responsibilities range from training consigned colts to event and sales
management. The Wagonhound Land & Livestock Student Competition, held
prior to the sale, awards up to 15 scholarships annually.
Ranches from around the country provided students with 37 two and three
year olds to train and fit for this year’s sale. Finished performance and
ranch horses from the respective consigners’ ranches will also be featured
in the class. Beyond preserving excellent genetics, consigners understand
the importance of investing in the future of equine leaders.
The 2010 consigners include: Abraham Equine, Bartlett Ranches, Becker
Ranch, Bogle Ltd. Co., Bucholz Family, Burnett Ranches, LLC (6666), Cowan
